How many times have you fallen off your bike before you finally learned to cycle? Or imagine if you gave up on walking, solely because you couldn’t get it right the first time! Most people run the other way when they hear the word ‘fear’, but have we thought of the other side, where fear can be a good thing? Research says that experiencing some amount of fear is beneficial for several reasons. For one, it helps give people a reality check. Before embarking upon a new adventure, people tend to get overly excited, thereby overlooking potential risks and pitfalls. In this sense, fear acts as a faint alarm bell that cautions us to slow down and reflect.
However, it’s important to strike a balance. Scores of people find it difficult to reach the desired goal, not because they were untalented, but because they were too afraid to take the plunge. Therefore, it all about converting the fear factor into a ‘dare to dare’ attitude!
