India is the home to some of the world class medical colleges. These institutions offer various courses in Medical science, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. After clearing the entrance exam students may choose from various degrees like BDS, MBBS, MS, and MD etc.

Most of the medical institutions were established in the 50’s and 60’s by the Central and the State government. But with the increase in number of medical aspirants many private colleges emerged in 1980 all across India. The standard and the quality of the medical institutes are maintained by the Medical Council of India.  Students who have passed the 10+2 exam can write the entrance tests at State or National level.
